Naylor Industries reports “encouraging” turnover figures for 2021/22

The UK manufacturing company Naylor Industries has reported a positive set of financial results for the year 2021/22, showing an impressive recovery from the impact of Covid-19.

According to Naylor’s figures, it managed to increase turnover by a huge 35% in the year to 28th February. The £69.8m figure was up from the £51.7 million reported during 2020/21, and much higher than the 7% drop posted during the height of the pandemic a year earlier.

Profits are also up at the family-owned business, rising from £2.9 million in 2020/21 to £4.1 million this year.

Commenting on its recent successes, Naylor Industries chief executive Edward Naylor told Insider Media Limited:

“The year has been encouraging, with buoyancy returning to our core construction, utilities and infrastructure markets. Supply chains have been challenging, with cost increases and material shortages, but I think we have dealt with these reasonably well. We have been pleased to see the impact of recent capital investment in terms of increased productivity.”

Recent acquisitions and investments

Naylor’s progress this year is in part down to a number of strategic moves, including two significant acquisitions.

In summer 2021, it bought the Gainsborough-based Schauenburg Technical Solutions. The second purchase was the Slaithwaite-based D&B Injection Moulding in February 2022. As a result, Naylor has been able to expand its product portfolio. It is now able to offer a range of electrical glands, and even a new permanent Novoform formwork system.

The company has since purchased another company, Tuffpipes based in Burnley.

Another part of Naylor’s expansion plan for the past year was investment. It made a whopping £5.7 million investment in plant and premises, a sizeable increase compared to the £3.8 million spent in 2021. Key purchases included a site in Garforth for the manufacture of concrete fencing, and an automated concrete lintel plant in Barugh Green.

The manufacturer also appears to be investing in people. It has an ongoing apprenticeship programme to feed the next generation of skilled workers into the business.
